Birchlenstrasse Dübendorf

Dübendorf CH . 2019 - 2022

The exterior concept is based on the close interaction of open space and architecture. The apartments are orientated on both sides - the street and the river area - and thus profit from all the qualities of the proposed open space planning. The abandonment of private, separate external spaces on the ground directs the focus on the privately used loggias and terraces. In reverse, it enables the largest possible coherent green area along the river. In this individual, but also shared free space specific offers may arise. Through this green space, the identity of living in a park in direct relation to the water surface arises. Every single resident benefits from the generosity of this outdoor space. In the park, the natural design predominates. A gravel lawn near the building shows light grasses and meadows and invites you to linger. Single dense grass plantations additionally divide this space and provide privacy on the ground floor loggias. A barbecue area with distance to the facade invites to the common get-together of the residents. The playground can be detected off the edge of the parcel and allows supervised children play.
Towards the river, the natural picture of the meadow is condensed and new trees complement the magnificent stock on the shore. With the help of simple mowed surfaces and paths, this space can also be made accessible. Removal of individual trees on the bank strengthens the connection to the river and two mown channels in the dense seam allow the observer to approach the water.
The view backwards presents a house in the park.
